What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy

Painful experiences from childhood and later in life seem to get locked in our nervous systems. We may not consciously remember every detail, but these experiences trigger reactions in the here and now and cause a great deal of distress, often seeming to come out of nowhere. Our way of functioning in the world, from our self-worth to how we relate to others, is tied to this locked-in material. EMDR is a technique used to unlock the nervous system and allow the brain to reprocess these painful events through the use of alternating bilateral stimulation that allows for dual focus of attention. People experience quicker relief and are often able to recount stressful life experiences with less distress, feeling better about themselves and the past.

Sessions are typically 60 minutes and are $180. I accept Blue Cross, MODA, Cigna, and Pacificsource insurance. Sliding scales are available based on need.
